Synopsis

The film is inspired by the experience of being a student during the cold winters of Sofia and by the deeply human love we share for our families. It explores the contrast between the desire for independence and the warm memory of our parents’ love. Every child wants to leave the nest as soon as possible, believing they can take care of themselves. Yet when the time comes to truly be on our own, we inevitably find ourselves thinking of home - the place where we once felt the warmest, safest, and most loved. And even when life becomes fast-paced, cold, and miserable, our mothers never stop thinking of us.

Director's biography

My name is Viktoria Panova. I am 21 years old and work in animation, directing, and motion design. I am currently studying Animation Cinema at New Bulgarian University, where I am in the third year of my Bachelor's degree. Alongside my studies, I work as a graphic designer in television - an environment that has taught me discipline, speed, and adaptability, while also allowing me to work daily with movement, rhythm, and visual storytelling. So far, I have directed two student animated short films - one created in collaboration with a close friend and the other produced independently. Both projects were different in terms of process and challenges, but they taught me one of the most important things: animation is not simply a technique, but a way of expressing one's inner world. What attracts me most is the possibility of conveying emotions through movement. I am interested in those small, sometimes difficult-to-express states that can be felt when they are told honestly. In my motion graphics work, I strive not simply to create visually beautiful frames, but to build atmosphere and emotion. For me, rhythm, pauses, and dynamics are just as important as the visual image itself. As an artist, I try to be sincere - towards my ideas, the people I work with, and the audience. I believe that every project carries a part of its creator, which is why I put personal care and attention to detail into everything I create. To me, animation is a space of freedom - a place where image, sound, and movement can come together to tell a story in a way that would not be possible through any other medium. SCREENWRITER'S BIOGRAPHY Stanka Mircheva My name is Stanka Mircheva. I am 22 years old and a third-year Bachelor's student in Animation Cinema at New Bulgarian University. My interests are primarily focused on screenwriting and directing, but I am open to learning everything related to the filmmaking process and collaborative work. My previous experience includes storyboard and animation exercises at the 15th and 16th Animation Workshops in Varvara. One of the most interesting aspects I have encountered so far is the relationship between sound and film dramaturgy - the way music, poetry, or even silence can shape the meaning and emotional impact of a film. I believe this is something I will continue to explore in my future projects. For me, it is extremely important and powerful for a story to be honest and to engage with universal human emotions. I strive to create stories that make people feel.
