Synopsis

"Roots" is a short documentary that explores the cultural heritage of Milanovo, a Bulgarian mountain village where tradition is woven into every stitch of its traditional clothing. Four women, who still dance in these costumes, share intimate stories of love, nostalgia, and the importance of preserving the past, offering a glimpse into the roots that keep our culture alive.

Director's biography

Nikolai Dimitrov is a film student at New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria. Outside his studies, he works as a documentarist, cinematographer and editor, partnering with Production houses and various NGO’s and Foundations. He is passionate about empowering young people and often participates in international youth worker trainings. With a background in Fine arts and specialization in Animation, he aims to make a positive impact through visual storytelling and beyond.
